Popcorn and Giggles

Last Friday night, my friend Ashlee brought her 2 fun children over to the house.

We played games (including Candy Land) and made some popcorn on the stove!

We also had fun with the photo-booth on my ipad. Here's some pictures documenting our fun!
A few week ago, while my husband's parents were visiting, my mother-in-love show me how to make popcorn over the stove - and I may never want to eat it out of the microwave again. You simply put a couple tablespoons of vegetable oil in the bottom of a regular size saucepan on medium heat - at this time, I add one kernel of popcorn. Put the lid on the pot and wait patiently for the "pop." When it pops, you know that the oil is hot enough. I let Abbi and Will stand near me, listening for the popcorn to pop. Will didn't know what we were waiting on and kept saying, "I -fraid....I -fraid." So I finally just decided to hold. him. You can see above that Abbi was so excited to finally hear it pop. Once your oil is hot enough, add about one-fourth a cup of kernels to your hot oil. Eventually, it will start to pop. I usually keep the pot moving, helping evenly distribute the hot oil and to keep the popped corn from burning.  Once it's done, you can pour melted butter over the top and add your choice of seasoning. To this batch, we added plain ol' salt. The kids loved it! And Will begged to take some home with him! It was such a fun Friday night!
