Book Review: Submerged by Dani Pettrey

I tend to stick to my favorite authors. I gravitate towards Dee Henderson and Lori Wick. (Side Note: Dee Henderson's new book Full Disclosure is AMAZING!!)  But when Bethany House sends me a list of books to choose from and my favorites are not listed....I go with someone my favorites recommend.

Dee Henderson described this book as "...romantic suspense that will keep you up at night." That description alone seemed to make me want to read this new story. Book One in the Alaskan Courage Series was my book of choice.

Submerged is the mystery of a sabotaged airplane, carrying the owner of a Russian artifacts souvenir shop.  Bailey Craig, the victim's niece had promised to never "return to her past" in Yancey, Alaska. But when her  aunt's funeral is scheduled, she begrudgingly makes the trip anyway. Having to overcome the stares, gossips, and memories of past failures, Bailey hopes to just make this a quick trip home to settle her aunt's affairs. But as evidence surfaces, it becomes apparent that this was no accident. And Bailey may be the only one who can help untangle the clues.

Cole McKenna, a rescue diver, was hurt by Bailey in her "past life."  Yet, he sees a change in her. Those romantic feelings begin to surface once again. Forced to work on the case together, will their love rekindle, or will the painful memories of the past triumph?

The mystery was well written. I love a story with a mix of romance and suspense. I also love the fact that I can trust Bethany House to not include any inappropriate material in their literature. I look forward to reading other books by this "new to me" author. It was definitely worth the time!

I am grateful that Bethany House provided this book for reviewing purposes.

If reviewing Christian books seems like something you may be interested in, you can see if you qualify here. You will need to be able to post a review to your own site (such as a blog) as well as to a retailer's site.
