Green Eggs and Ham

I am loving staying at home - and one of the perks to that is, when Jeremiah has days off, we can travel! This past weekend provided the perfect opportunity to spend some much needed time with our families. It seemed I moved from one project to the next, but I loved every minute of it.

Jeremiah's mom is a wonderful kindergarten teacher - Since her school was celebrating Dr. Seuss's Birthday, I decided to tag along with her for the day.

Our excitement began at 6 am - After getting myself ready for the day, I began cracking eggs. 6 dozen to be exact.

We scrambled and cooked them 18 eggs at a time.

While scrambling the eggs, be sure to add some green food coloring.

I must admit, the green eggs and ham were not looking very appetizing. But the kids thought it was pretty fun.

The kids arrived at school giggling and laughing. The hallway was decorated with life-size characters.

One little girl told me, "When I saw all the stuff in the hallway, I just slapped my face!" I think that means she liked it.

Another little girl told me, "My momma said these are just gonna taste like regular eggs." They had obviously been contemplating these green eggs for a while.

Jeremiah's mom introduced me as "Mrs. Cook 2" - much like "Thing 1 and Thing 2." As the children arrived, the received a fun hat to wear for the festivities.

Three kindergarten classes congregated in the lunch room to enjoy their festive breakfast.

The principal came in to read "Green Eggs and Ham" as the children tried the strange looking eggs.

Some couldn't eat it, even though their classmates were telling them "It tastes just like regular eggs!" Some ate 2 and 3 helpings.

It was an experience I was so glad to be a part of. When I was little, I wanted to be a teacher - mainly because I wanted to make bulletin boards and wear high heels. I love parties and themed events - how fun to to be a part of such a fun activity.  And my mother-in-law is a great teacher! What a privilege to shadow her for the day.
