I received Trisha Yearwood's new cookbook yesterday, Trisha's Table. And we are eating an apple pie made from one the recipes tonight. I love watching her show on Food Network and was equally excited to have one of her cookbooks. Her recipes are simple yet delicious. They remind me of those southern staples that I grew up enjoying.

This particular cookbook features many food items true to her roots. Each recipe begins with a little memory or tribute. I love knowing the background of her recipe choices. This book also focuses on some healthier options for those southern favorites. She suggests just making a few ingredient switches to obtain a more balanced life.

The hardback, glossy paged book is beautiful. I love the redish orange color of the hardback book and will probably display it without the dust jacket. There are plenty of pictures of the food and lots of helpful tips and suggestions throughout.

I appreciate recipes that are easy to follow as well as delicious. I also love that her ingredient choices are found at regular grocery stores. This book is a keeper!  And, the pie was delicious and super easy.

I love sneaking new children's books into my son's stacks. He gets so excited when he spots a new one. Today, he spotted Stories about Jesus by The Beginner's Bible. I grew up reading Bible stories from the Beginner's Bible and seeing those familiar illustrations again.

This puffy covered board book is perfect for little hands. The stories of Jesus, starting at His birth and ending with the resurrection are told in a simple, easy to understand way. I love that the pages are not easily destroyed. The words on each page are simple enough to keep my two year old's attention, as well. The illustrations are colorful and I look forward to reading of the miracles and events of Jesus' life with my kids.
