I am learning so much from Sarah Wilkerson (CEO, Clickin Moms)'s book - Capture the moment. This hardback books is beautifully designed with family-life photos. Each page contains a large image, the camera settings used and tip for the circumstance/lighting.
My kids faces look so much more "alive" when I have them facing sunlight. And the colors in my photos are more life-like (and less yellowy) when I use natural sunlight. "Turn off the flash!" - best advice ever!
From learning the best times of the day to shoot photos outside to how to capture the perfect image indoors, I am picking up so many good tips. I plan to re-read this book and try to implement so many of the principles. I don't claim to be a really good photographer, but I do love to capture moments of our family time. This 200 plus paged books is a great resource!
I received this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for an honest review.
Redo your Room - Bedroom DIYs You Can Do in a Weekend is definitely written for the teenage girl. Filled with ideas, a middle-school girl would probably find this inspiring and exciting.
The color photos help to explain the easy tutorials. As a parent, I appreciated that it often included consulting the adult in your life before making crazy changes to your room. Some of the projects looked fun while others seemed tacky and messy. It may have just been the style of the crafter, but I found a lot of the ideas too simple. Some ideas were great while other ideas seemed to just be page fillers. For example, wrapping a strand of lace around your desk lamp????
This book did go over the basics of refinishing wood furniture. And I loved some of the memo board ideas.
