Read with Me

If you have a blog, love to read and are interested in receiving complimentary books to review, here are the sites that I use. Most of these sites just require a blog post (each will specify how many words, etc) and a review posted to a retailer's site (Amazon, etc.)  The books are mine to keep after I have written the review.   If you have come across any other reliable book review sites, please comment!

I received Let the Journey Begin by Max Lucado in the mail. I had originally thought this just a regular book by Lucado. As soon as I opened the box, I thought, "This looks almost like a graduation gift book." And...it is. This little hardback, glossy paged book compiles many selections from Lucado's other books. It's meant to encourage the reader as they are embracing the next step in life. It doesn't specifically say "Graduation" but the back says, "Soon you'll be embracing new opportunities and taking steps toward reaching your dreams...You may be on your own, but you are not alone."

There are other Lucado books entitled "Let the Journey Begin." This appears to be the third in the gift book series, focusing on "Finding God's Best for Your Life."

The pages are filled with Scripture and words of encouragement, true stories and advice. It will make an excellent gift for the graduate in your life. The back portion of the books provides pages for the reader to record A Prayer for My Life, Personal - Professional - Spiritual Goals, Steps I Have Taken to Reach My Goals, and Words to Remember.

I received this book from BookLook Bloggers in exchange for an honest review.

I had a really hard time connecting with the characters and storyline in Together with You by Victoria Bylin. Although I appreciate the author's attempt to educate readers about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), all of the details made the story seem choppy. Introducing this disorder seemed to be the focus more than the fictional tale. The first chapter introduced so many characters at first that I had to keep flipping back and forth to remember who was who. It was a predictable love tale where the two main characters also grew spiritually along the way. I finished the book but never really felt connected to the characters or story.

I received this book from Bethany House in exchange for an honest review.
