Read with Me

Since I am heavily involved with the MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) at my church, I was excited to receive Brave Mom by Sherry Surratt, president and CEO of MOPS International.  As a mom of two young children, I couldn't help but be encouraged by the words in these chapters. addressing those "mommy fears," this book challenged me to be a better mother. This is a book I will re-read when I find myself feeling discouraged or overwhelmed. I especially appreciated the section on praying Scripture over your children.

I received this book from BookLook Bloggers in exchange for an honest review.

When I received The Uncommon Marriage Adventure by Tony and Lauren Dungy, I expected to find the typical couples devotional. Instead this book seems to also be useful in helping you connect or reconnect as a couple.

Each daily reading selection is short- no more than two pages. A Core Principle states the daily topic. A scripture passage starts off the reading, followed by a personal experience for reflection from the authors. The end of each reading challenges the reader to practically apply a truth or principle. This section is often filled with thought provoking questions to ask your spouse or easy to accomplish activities.

The Skinny Taste Cookbook by Gina Homolka is a great resource for cooks wishing to serve lower calorie/healthier meals. Filled with easy recipes and beautiful pictures, I was immediately marking recipes to try.

The book is filled with information to help the cook understand how to create healthier entrees. Each recipe indicates if it is gluten free, vegetarian, quick, freezer friendly or for the slow cooker. The author gives a brief description or memory associated with the recipe.

Perfect pairing suggestions are sprinkled throughout the book to help you add the best side dishes. The Skinny Scoop suggestions provide great time-saving tips as well.
