Book Reviews

Treat Yourself by Jennifer Steinhauer was just the cookbook this pregnant girl needed...or maybe I didn't need it! My baby on the way has definitely made me crave all kinds of cakes and desserts. This book is filled with 70 recipes of familiar treats that we grew up enjoying. From Twinkies to Girl Scout Cookies, it's incredibly handy to have easy to follow recipes for all these items on hand. If a trip to the store isn't possible, I can now try to make some of these treats on my own!

This book also made me think about my missionary friends and families - I'm sure they find themselves craving familiar American snack foods while they are living in other countries. Since most of these mass produced yummies aren't available around the world, a cookbook like this would allow them to feel a little closer to home and enjoy a familiar taste.

Inside these colorful pages, you'll find recipes and pictures for 70 classic snacks. From Zebra Cakes to Chicken in a Biskit Crackers - you will find some snack that you loved as a kid. How fun to try to make them on your own!

I received Treat Yourself from Blogging for Books in exchange for an honest review.

Another Full-Color Biography for Kids! I just love these books - I want the whole series! And, if I love them as an adult, I'm sure that kids find them entertaining as well. Get to Know the Apostle Paul by Nancy I. Sanders is filled with the same fun facts, glossy pictures and informative tid-bits that were included in the other books of this series. Cultural elements are highlighted and maps show the exact locations mentioned in the Bible. What a great way for kids to really get to know these Biblical characters. With these pictures and descriptions, readers will see familiar Bible stories come to life. I can't wait to receive more!
